I Solve Problems
How did you respond to challenges that occurred as you worked?
Painting with acrylic paint was nice because it was easy to fix any errors. If I added too much of one color or a color that wasn't exactly the shade I wanted, I could mix in some white, black or gray or any other color right on the canvas and there wouldn't be any issues. Also, if there was a big error where I added too much of the wrong color and I couldn't fix it right away, I just wanted for the paint to dry then painted right over it. The acrylic paint drys opaque, so I would just paint right over dried paint if I made a mistake. That's how I fixed most of my errors while painting.
I Reflect
When did you step back and analyze your work during this project?
Every day before I started painting and at the end of class when I was done painting for the day I would step back and anylyze my work. Before class, I would look at the parts that I need to improve or fix, and I would decide what I wanted to work on paining each day. Once I was done painting for the day, I would step back and decide what I did well that day and what could be improved next time I painted. Stepping back and analyzing my painting helped me to focus on one part of the painting at a time and make sure that each part was as good as it could be.
I Create Original Art
How did you use your own unique ideas in your work?
I used my own ideas when painting this landscape because I took the picture that I painted. The landscape I painted was a view of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I took the picture on my cell phone, so the painting was primarily my own ideas. However, it was not all my own ideas. I got advice on what colors to use in the mountains and flowers, how to paint the trees in the background, and how to mix in colors in the mountains and trees. A lot of the colors chosen and the picture itself were my own ideas, not all of the work was from my unique ideas.
